Surfrider Foundation Club in Berkeley

ENVIRONMENTAL - ACTIVISM

Our mission is the protection and enjoyment of oceans, waves, and beaches through a powerful activist network focused on sustainability. We are the UC Berkeley chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a nationally-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches for all people, through a powerful activist network. Our specific chapter works to host beach and campus cleanups with other registered student organizations, partners with Community Resources for Science with their Bay Area Scientists Inspiring Students (BASIS) program, has gotten UC Berkeley certified as the first college campus in the world with all of our dining halls registered as Ocean-Friendly Restaurants, runs a #NoSolo campaign in efforts to make UC Berkeley the first campus with 100% single-use-plastic-free social events, will soon have a Blue Water Task Force to allow us to provide critical water quality information to protect public health in the East Bay, measuring fecal indicator bacteria levels in the Berkeley Marina and comparing those results to local water quality standards. We invite anyone to join our organization at any point of time in the year, no recruitment, applications, interviews, or experience required. Feel free to email us or contact us on any of our social medias to learn more about us or future events! linktr.ee/calsurfrider Join our Slack! last updated 2/27/23
