Space Technologies and Rocketry
ENGINEERING - SCIENCES - TECHNOLOGY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
We are a competitive high-power rocketry team. We engineer payloads, avionics, control systems, and rocket engines. Additionally, we host local STEM outreach events and work with local companies to create a stronger aerospace community on campus.
The goal of Space Technologies and Rocketry is to create new and innovative technologies for use in high-power rocketry and other space-related vehicles, and enter associated competitions.
Among our many projects, we research propulsion, develop avionics and software, and, of course, design, build, test, and fly high-power rockets out of spaceports in the Central Valley and the Mojave Desert. Another primary function of our club is hosting outreach events in the Berkeley community in order to engage children and adults in the fields of science, engineering, mathematics, and aeronautics.
This year, we will be participating in ESRA’s Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition, where we will design, test, and build a high-power rocket capable of reaching an altitude of 10,000 feet.
The ultimate goal of STAR is to be successful in Rocketry competition, using that experience to send a student-designed and built rocket into space.Check out our website at stars.berkeley.edu and our documentation at rocketry.gitbook.io!
