Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

Beta Psi Chapter's aim is to enhance the quality of life for individuals within and around Northern California (East Bay), through public service, leadership development and education of youth. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was founded on November 12, 1922 on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana by seven accomplished community-driven young educators. They believed that the self-respect, knowledge and discipline gained through study would help individuals to recognize their duty and responsibility for their society. Founded on the precept of education, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., as a leading national service organization, continues to meet the challenges of the day, promoting and encouraging high scholastic attainment, and continues to grow through Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service.
