EDUCATION - SOCIAL - ADVOCACY

The School of Education Graduate Coalition is a graduate student group in the Berkeley School of Education (BSE). We are a standing body of graduate students dedicated to advocating for the interests of graduate students within the BSE. Our primary purposes are: to advocate for a more democratic BSE, to serve as a centralized point of communication between BSE (faculty and administration) and the graduate student body, to ensure that graduate students are included as key stakeholders in decisions and processes within the BSE, and to select students to serve on BSE committees, to serve as a forum for graduate student concerns, and advocate for equitable representation and treatment for diverse groups of students, paying special attention to: race, immigration status, gender, sexuality, student parent status, language, religion, ability and access, socioeconomic status, academic discipline, and research interests. Our secondary purposes are: to encourage interdisciplinary and collaborative research, to build community within the BSE, and to organize department-wide student academic/professional opportunities. School of Education Graduate Coalition name changed from Graduate School of Education Student Association 3/19/22 - MMC
