Strategies for Ecology, Education, Diversity, and Sustainability
SCIENCES - RESEARCH
SEEDS is a student group committed to increasing diversity and opportunities for underrepresented students to engage with the field of ecology. We are a chapter of the national SEEDS program of the Ecological Society of America (ESA).
SEEDS is a chapter of the national SEEDS program established by the Ecological Society of America. The purpose of this club is to promote accessible opportunities in the field of ecology for underrepresented students at the University of California, Berkeley. We seek to diversify ecology by engaging students interested in the field with hands-on experiences with science. We provide students with opportunities to interact with a diverse group of their peers and ecologists to deepen students’ understanding of the science as well as future career options.
Examples of what we do:
1. Graduate student or faculty panels to showcase cutting-edge research and the diversity of ecology
2. Field trips and educational opportunities for Berkeley students to learn more about the field from top experts
3. Volunteer projects to promote ecological principles and sustainability in our community
4. Research and job opportunities, networking, and professional development resources
5. Support and social community of like-minded peers at Berkeley
