PiE creates engaging STEM experiences for students in the East Bay. Design, build and lead: produce a high school robotics competition, create hands-on lessons, and lead workshops that enable students to learn while building and having fun.
PiE's mission is to create engaging STEM experiences that provide students in the East Bay with the tools, resources, guidance and inspiration to build their own future. Staff members design, build and lead a variety of programs and lessons in a project-based environment, with the goal of making things that can also inspire and educate others.
We stress mentorship and "learning by doing," which is why our flagship program is a high school robotics competition that we design, produce and host every year. We also develop hands-on lessons to bring directly to classrooms, and workshops for DIY projects or basic technical software
That's why we design, produce, and organize the competition in-house for about 20 high school teams in our community. Our vision is that everyone involved -- high school students and college mentors and staff -- have the opportunity to be both students and teachers to each other. All our STEM programs create a learning community where students have role models and resources going into the future -- and they in turn can 'pay it forward' by perpetuating this kind of philosophy.
