Oakland Asian Student Educational Services
EDUCATION - CONSULTING - COMMUNITY SERVICE
OASES was founded in 1983 by a group of UC Berkeley undergraduates who wanted to provide a critical safety net for youth living in Oakland’s Chinatown.
As a small mentoring program who served under-resourced children in Oakland, Oakland Asian Student Educational Services (OASES) has grown into an organization of 150 volunteers that serves Lincoln and Franklin Elementary Schools in Oakland. We mentor over 400 elementary school children each year regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, or religious belief. OASES's vision is that all students in the public education system reach their fullest potential and are supported to achieve success in school, careers and civic life. OASES achieves this by empowering youth with limited resources through education, mentorship, and service to strengthen the Oakland community. As a project of EBAYC (Where young people grow, thrive and lead!), we guide youth to be safe, smart, and socially responsible.
