NHC’s mission is to empower black students to embrace their natural hair's beauty through classes, events, and a published guide. We stand for inclusivity, authenticity, and self-discovery, championing self-love, confidence & black pride!
The Natural Hair Collective’s mission is to empower black students to embrace their natural hair's beauty through our decal class, our community-wide hair workshop events, and a published guide. As a publications & cultural RSO, we foster community and creativity by:
Publishing an online natural hair guide that publicizes on/off-campus braiders, hairstylists, and barbers specializing in curly and afro-textured hair, etc.
Facilitating a decal class discussing and exploring the intersection of natural hair and the black experience. With this class, we hope to teach students the history and stigma of Black Hair, the traditional hairstyles of the African Diaspora, how to love their natural hair, how to care for their natural hair, and how to do select protective styles.
Hosting campus community-wide events allowing students to learn curly hair tips and be in community with each other (our events are open to all students, and we hope to see you there)!
Our goal is to educate students about Afro-textured hair, championing self-love, confidence & black pride in the process! Follow our Instagram & TikTok to find out more ways to get involved in our club!
