Mood Psychology at Berkeley
SCIENCES - HEALTH AND WELLNESS - INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Mood Psychology strives to improve the psychological well-being of students at UC Berkeley by generating awareness of mental health issues and promoting access to mental health resources.
As a student organization, we are dedicated to building a supportive community for international students who are challenged by mental problems. We will achieve our goals through the following approaches:
1) helping international students to gain a better understanding of mental health problems and to learn effective self-care methods to manage stress; 2) facilitating international students to communicate their mental difficulties and guide them to different psychological services based on their needs; 3) forming a student-led research group under the guidance of a faculty member that investigates the barriers that prevent the international students at Cal from obtaining the mental health services they need and explore the strategies to address these obstacles; 4) pairing up new international students with current international students to help them build a new support system at Cal. We will also post original mental health articles on social media, host speakers, present workshops, and connect with counseling service on campus. By taking these proactive steps, Mood Psychology hopes to promote mental health for international students and help them thrive in their study abroad experience at Cal.
