Jeeva Clinic

HEALTH AND WELLNESS - MEDICAL / HEALTHCARE - SOCIAL

Jeeva Clinic aims to implement a community-based model to address the prevalence of cardiovascular disease in the South Asian community. We also seek to educate ourselves and others on how to best bridge gaps in healthcare across marginalized groups. There is a large South Asian presence in the Bay Area which are known to be at risk for obesity-related metabolic disorders. For example, South Asians have the highest death rate from heart disease and comprise 60% of the heart disease population in the world. Our organization aims to implement a community based model in order to address cardiovascular disease in the South Asian community, a major public health concern. We previously catered specifically to the South Asian population but we now seek to expand awareness to populations that our healthcare system can better support. We hold general member meetings biweekly. Our club is an avenue for those interested in public health, in their local community or otherwise, to further explore their interest and help others.
