Danceworx

The purpose of Danceworx is to provide an outlet for dancers to perform, as well as an opportunity for dancers to learn and improve technique in a fun and supportive environment! Danceworx was founded in 1988 and is the oldest student-run dance group on the UC Berkeley campus. For over 30 years, we have been providing students with a creative outlet to choreograph, dance, and perform in a fun and supportive environment. Dancers are selected at the beginning of each semester and practice routines in various styles: Jazz/Contemporary, Urban and Tap. Throughout the semester, we host social events such as Pizza Nights, Mentorship Activities and our End of the Semester Banquet so our dancers can get to know each other better. Each semester culminates in three performances: two outdoor showcases on the UC Berkeley campus and an evening showcase in a local theater venue. Our showcases attract over 400 attendees each semester and also feature guest performances from campus and local community groups to foster unity and promote diversity among UC Berkeley’s performing arts community.
