Creative Residencies for Emerging Artists Teaching Empowerment

CREATE is an organization supported by the Public Service Center that promotes arts-based services. Through CREATE, Berkeley students design and co-teach a class in dance, theater, visual arts, or creative writing in order to meet the enrichment needs of local schools and community centers. CREATE members are provided weekly trainings by our leadership team and are also mentored by professional teaching artists in their specific discipline. Trainings and mentor trainings cover topics such as social justice, curriculum design, positive behavior support, and personal artistry. CREATE also hosts guest artist workshops, social events, and community showcases in order to engage with members and the larger campus/Bay Area community.
