ENGINEERING - RESEARCH

We are Cal Concrete Canoe, UC Berkeley’s first civil engineering competition team. We provide a welcoming community where students can learn, gain hands-on experience, and create something they can be proud of. From our 2023-24 Project Manager: youtu.be - Hello! We are Cal Concrete Canoe, UC Berkeley’s first civil engineering competition team. We provide a welcoming community where students can learn, gain hands-on experience, and create something they can be proud of. Concrete canoe competes annually in the ASCE-sponsored concrete canoe competition, where we are challenged to apply knowledge from our courses and experience from our team to a large-scale project. - The concrete canoe team is unique from other student organizations because we encompass many disciplines of engineering; participating in our team exposes students to disciplines like construction, materials science, structural analysis, and environmental engineering. In addition, as a competition team, we help individuals grow and build leadership and teamwork skills. Despite being a civil engineering competition team, we welcome students from all majors and backgrounds; this diversity helps bring new ideas and concepts towards our project and competition! - Our team is comprised of divisions, each specializing in a subject to allow for our team to function:• Construction• Materials Design• Quality Assurance and Quality Control• Hull Design and Structural Analysis• Graphics Design• Paddling - Our team holds a long history of success in our competition, and with our continuous alumni support, we enable students to call upon a large, knowledgeable alumni network. In our team, students have the ability to grow outside of their courses! - If you are interested in joining us, please join our discord: discord.gg - Watch a recap video from our 2019 competition: youtu.be
