Chi Psi
Chi Psi is a national, social fraternity of gentlemen committed to the pursuit of excellence.
Chi Psi Fraternity is the first social fraternity of gentlemen, established nationally in 1841. This Alpha (chapter) of Chi Psi at the University of California, Berkeley was founded in 1895, making it one of the oldest and richest traditions on campus. Our Fraternity is composed of undergraduate students from across a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds, brought together by a mutual desire and respect for brotherhood. We support and inspire one another to succeed, despite the competitive academic atmosphere at Berkeley. We maintain a prominent building (The Lodge) on Piedmont Ave, a robust social calendar, intense involvement in campus life, and a dynamic alumni base right here in the Bay Area that provides career support and guidance.
Most importantly, Chi Psi is a brotherhood of gentlemen in the pursuit of excellence. Since our inception more than 175 years ago, the only requirement for membership has always been that one displays the characteristics of a gentleman. By committing ourselves to the values associated with this pursuit, we help young men mature into responsible, compassionate, and confident members of the greater community.
Furthermore, we are committed to maintaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive brotherhood that welcomes all kinds of gentleman. We respect and acknowledge our brothers' diverse experiences, and are strong in our unity.
