The UC Berkeley Chemical Engineering Car team builds a shoebox-sized car powered and controlled by chemical reactions for the annual AIChE-sponsored Chemical Engineering Car competition. Please fill out this interest form to receive updates about our Fall 2022 recruitment: <a href="https://tinyurl.com/chemecarfa22interest">tinyurl.com</a> The Chemical Engineering Car team builds a shoebox-sized car powered and controlled by chemical reactions for the annual AIChE-sponsored Chemical Engineering Car competition. Every year, we build two cars to compete at the Pacific Regional against other schools from California, in hopes of qualifying for the National competition. At our most recent competition in Spring 2022 at UCLA, we placed 2nd in the car performance competition, qualifying for nationals, and 1st in the poster competition. At our competition in Spring 2019 at USC, we placed 4th overall in the main competition out of 15 competitors. At our competition in Spring 2018 at UC Irvine, we placed 1st in the poster competition and 2nd in the car performance competition, qualifying for nationals. At UC San Diego in 2017, we placed 4th and 5th out of 12 competitors. We were not able to compete in 2020 due to COVID-19. For the Fall 2022 semester, we will be developing several power sources and control mechanisms, such as a Zinc Air battery, a Hydrogen Fuel Cell, and a Vitamin-C control clock. The application process is pretty simple: there is a short written application through a google form. Each applicant receives an invite to a coffee chat. The aim of both these components is to gauge your interest and enthusiasm for the club. We do not require any prior experience and want to give an opportunity to every member of UC Berkeley.
