Celli@Berkeley
MUSIC AND PERFORMANCE - CREATIVE ARTS
Celli@Berkeley seeks to generate new works for the cello ensemble repertoire. As a student organization, our goal is to provide a creative space for individuals to discover their own musical style.
A young and passionate group dedicated to dynamic performances in concert halls and alternative environments, CELLI@BERKELEY is an ensemble comprised of UC Berkeley students who come from a diverse background in musical training. Celli@Berkeley members are involved in multiple academic fields including Music, Physics, Political Science, Journalism and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Celli@Berkeley provides students with the opportunity to perform works outside of the traditional concert hall. By assembling talented young cellists at Cal, Celli@Berkeley strives to highlight the versatility of the cello, inviting audiences to share in a world of music they might not be exposed to otherwise. Collaborations with composers in the Berkeley student and national new music community have led to newly commissioned works.
Celli@Berkeley has played classical favorites to pop song arrangements in a variety of performance spaces, including Sproul Plaza, the Berkeley Art Museum, the Berkeley Farmer's Market, and the Berkeley Half Marathon. On sunny days, Celli@Berkeley can be heard performing pop arrangements near Sather Gate as CelliPOP.
