Casa Esperanza

SOCIAL - HEALTH AND WELLNESS - ADVOCACY

Casa Esperanza serves a shelter for women and children survivors of domestic abuse in Ensenada, Mexico. We aid these families by providing financial and emotional support, as well as creating health, wellness, and social empowerment programming to help them regain stability. We plan multiple trips to Mexico throughout the year. We fundraise depending on their specific needs, including funds for cleaning and hygiene products, clothing, bills, and scholarships for higher education. We create health workshops to bring health services to the women and children and to teach them how to maintain healthy practices. We also conduct social empowerment workshops, including career and educational support, to help the families at the shelter regain independence. Our mission is to bring UC Berkeley students of varied professional pathways together to both enhance our cultural awareness and collectively serve those in need.
