...
The Student Learning Center is the premier undergraduate academic support unit at UC Berkeley. Founded in 1973, the Center was established to provide a rigorous and inclusive space for undergraduates to collaborate, learn, and grow. We view peer collaboration as the touchstone of academic and personal success.
The Student Learning Center has grown to serve more than 10,000 undergraduates annually—approximately 30% of the university’s undergraduate population. Today, we’re recognized for our process-oriented, research-driven, and culturally informed approach to collaborative peer pedagogy.
With a wide range of classes, programs, and events, the SLC seeks to push the boundaries of traditional learning models, while advancing our mission of undergraduate empowerment. To further foster academic excellence, we will continue to expand the breadth and depth of our innovative services.
Our Mission
The Student Learning Center supports a global community of learners as they navigate the cultural expectations and academic rigor of UC Berkeley. Through service models that honor their diverse starting points and meet them where they are, we aim to empower all students to realize their full academic potential and aspirations.
