Campus Dept | Bears that Care
Bears that CARE (BTC) is active bystander initiative through the Center of Support and Intervention that aims to make campus a safer community by empowering individuals to intervene in harmful situations. Take care of your fellow bears!
Bears That CARE (BTC) is an active bystander initiative to make our campus safer. Through interactive workshops about bystander intervention, Bears That CARE educates and empowers individuals to effectively and safely intervene in potentially harmful or violent situations. We strive to create a community of care.
Our staff is comprised of peer educators. Peer educators provide workshops to student groups across campus and actively promote violence prevention through a variety of programs, as well as lead workshops for academic and student affairs departments.
Our work is based off of using the CARE model to safely intervene in potentially harmful situations. Confront the situation, Alert others, Redirect attention, Engage afterwards.
Our interactive workshops include a variety of topics and can be customized to your need! We host workshops on:
- General Bystander Intervention
- Consent
- Advanced Consent
- Alcohol Education
- Social Identities and Microaggressions
- Mental Health
- Suicide Awareness
