Bear Brain Initiative

We aim to promote understanding among students of varying neurodegenerative diseases that affect the elderly population through working with various groups in the Bay Area that focus on providing help to those with neurodegenerative disorders. GET UPDATES ABOUT BBI -> Instagram: @ucbbbi The Bear Brain Initiative focuses on a vast variety of neurodegenerative diseases by tackling these issues not only at an interpersonal level, through direct volunteering with affected populations, but also at a federal level via advocacy campaigns. This organization emphasizes the importance of integrating public policy with community service, which is an angle that differs from strictly community service based organizations that focus on such neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, the inclusive focus on multiple diseases within an overarching category, rather than specifying an exclusive focus on Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson's, etc., contributes to the Bear Brain Initiative’s efforts in promoting a safe-space for those who have had personal experiences with, or interest in, neurodegenerative diseases in general.
