Alternative Service Trips at Berkeley Law

BLAST is Berkeley Law's alternative spring break organization. Students travel for a week of service to provide pro bono legal support in communities outside the Bay Area. BLAST is a student-led organization that operates in conjunction with Berkeley Law's Pro Bono Program. We are an alternative service break organization that offers students the opportunity to provide pro bono legal services outside of the Bay Area. Students work in partnership with and to support established grassroots legal services agencies, gaining insight into the ways these organizations adapt their work to the unique challenges and needs of their respective communities. BLAST is a service-learning experience that helps equip students with the tools to understand the complex needs of communities similar to and different from their own, helping foster an active generation of thoughtful community lawyers.
