DATA AND COMPUTING - SCIENCES

Making access to computer science education and opportunities more equitable, available, and achievable for students of all backgrounds. Berkeley ANova is a student organization that seeks to empower students by providing computer science education and mentorship to under-resourced schools and marginalized communities. Our mentors develop individualized curriculum to teach at each of our middle and high school partner sites with the goal of increasing equitable exposure and accessibility to the tech space. Each ANova member attends weekly sites visits at our partnered schools and volunteers at events like ANova College Mentorship Program (a college-readiness program for high school students) and ANova Hacks (a 24-hour hackathon for high school students with little to no programming experience). ANova is driven by a tight-knit community of UC Berkeley students, who are passionate about social issues, educational outreach, and computer science mentorship. As part of our committees, members work on various projects such as curriculum building, web development, and event planning. We're excited to welcome new members this semester! No CS experience is required - just a willingness to learn.
